Background
Foundation Conservation Carpathia is a leading Romanian conservation NGO with the goal of creating a worldclass wilderness reserve in the Southern Romanian Carpathian mountains for the benefit of biodiversity and local communities.
Travel Carpathia
Travel Carpathia was developed as an eco-tourism project within the green enterprise programme of Foundation Conservation Carpathia. It was developed to create an alternative income model for local communities, and serve as a model for financing the management of a protected natural area in the long term. Travel Carpathia is a niche tour operator focusing on nature-based experiences designed to offer guests not only a unique immersive experience in the natural environment of the Transylvanian hills and Southern Carpathians, but also offer a glimpse into the work and goal of creating Europe’s largest forested national park. Besides creating and offering experience packages, we manage our own six locations varying from a biodiversity farm, to a horse-riding centre, wildlife hides set deep into the mountains, as well as a glamping style tented camp, and a wilderness chalet.
