Begin by choosing the locations and activities that interest you or your group. Add them to your cart, complete the required information, and submit the Booking Enquiry. Our reservations team will then reach out to you to further discuss your inquiry before providing an itinerary proposal and further instructions.

We provide customised itineraries that encompass a variety of locations and activities. These range from farm holidays and riding experiences to hiking tours and wildlife observation in the Făgăraș Mountains. Accommodation may vary, spanning from wilderness camping in glamping style tents and rustic eco-luxury cabins, as well as renovated farmhouses and charmingly decorative rooms and apartments.

Our locations offer a wide range of activities, which can be tailored to the individual needs of the traveller, or the group, regarding all fitness levels.

All of our guides are fluent in English. Special requests for German, Spanish, or French can be accommodated subject to the availability of guides proficient in those languages. In the event of a mixed language group, tours will be conducted in English.

Our guides are fully certified and have a great deal of knowledge and experience related to their specific guiding areas. Additionally, our Guiding Academy, which all our guides have to pass through, offers them the chance to permanently deepen their understanding of nature and wildlife, expanding their expertise beyond traditional guiding.

Depending on the location that you are staying in, as well as the season, we will send you a detailed packing list with all necessary equipment prior to your visit.

We can accommodate any dietary restrictions upon request, as well as other specific needs if informed prior to your arrival.

The minimum age for participation in the tours at the wildlife observation hides is eight years old. This is mainly for ensuring good conditions for wildlife watching, which requires participants to sit still for several hours at a time. This includes Bunea and Comisu hides, as well as the local hide near Equus Silvania. However, we can arrange exclusive use of the hides upon request, wherein the age requirement does not count.

If you need transportation to the meeting point with your guide or one of our locations, we are happy to arrange it for you at an extra cost upon request.

The tours at the wildlife observation hides require a low to medium physical fitness, as they involve hiking uphill. In order to reach Bunea Wilderness Cabin the hike is uphill, but not for more than 10 minutes. To get to Comisu wildlife observation hides, there is a hike of about two hours, with 400 m altitude difference, with a 45% inclination along the trail in some parts. Other hides which are in the making can be accessed by foot or by car.

Our other hiking tours around COBOR Biodiversity Farm or Equus Silvania Wilderness and Horse-Riding Centre can be adapted to the requirements of the group.

Around Poiana Tămaș Wilderness Camp or Valea Vladului Chalet there are several hiking routes, which can be decided upon together with the guide based on the fitness level of the group, as well as weather conditions.

Our tailored experiences look at complete nature experiences, not just ticking a box for an animal sighting. We aim to provide you with the best opportunity to witness wildlife in their natural surroundings, combined with information and experiences about the ecosystem you are in, and will provide insight into the conservation activities of our mother organisation, Foundation Conservation Carpathia, and about local ways of life. However, wild animals’ behaviour is beyond our control, and we cannot guarantee sightings.

For all Travel Carpathia hides, we have selected places where we know that wildlife regularly passes and we provide little treats for them to make it more attractive for them to stop by. However, we avoid feeding wildlife with large quantities of food as is done in most other wildlife viewing places in order to not habituate wildlife to a place. Whilst this decreases chances of actually seeing wildlife up-close, it keeps the wildlife wild.

While there’s limited mobile network coverage at Comisu wildlife observation hides and Poiana Tămaș Wilderness Camp in select areas, your guide carries a satellite phone for emergencies. Embrace the opportunity to disconnect and fully immerse yourself in nature during your experience at these locations.
