We had a wonderful time out in pastures of Cobor! We met shepherds and a rare breed of cattle. Beautiful landscape. The accommodation was extremely cosy and comfortable! The food was delicious. A very memorable experience!

Come and enjoy the abundant birdlife and the rare Transylvanian Grey Cattle at Cobor Biodiversity Farm!

Located in the Transylvanian Hills, Cobor village is surrounded by meadows, pastures and oak forests. Foundation Conservation Carpathia has developed a biodiversity farming concept over 500 ha of grassland, which offers the perfect blend of high nature value grasslands, biodiversity conservation, organic farming, a welcoming tourist and business destination and a superb place for horses and cattle. The farm is an example of a successful green business, which helps to develop the local community in perfect balance with nature.

Three old houses were renovated and refurbished into welcoming guesthouses and a cosy restaurant. We offer organic meals, using as many local ingredients as we can, produced by us or by our neighbouring farmers.

Enjoy a few days at the farm and explore the surrounding nature choosing from the many activities we organise.

Things to keep in mind

Cobor is conveniently located 80 km away from Brasov and just an hour's drive from Viscri, a famous Transylvanian UNESCO site. The nearest airport is Sibiu International Airport (100 km, 2-hour drive).

Is the perfect place for animal lovers: from horses, the rare Transylvanian Grey Cattle and a variety of birds to wildlife, you will find it a great place to be.

Enjoy organic dishes made out of local ingredients and following traditional Transylvanian recipes.

Cobor Farm features two guesthouses located close to each other. It has a capacity of 12 rooms and can accommodate up to 23 guests.

Enjoy the landscape and biodiversity around the village on foot or from a horse cart!

The hills around Cobor are ideal for easy hikes and horse cart rides, with great views of the surrounding mountains and settlements. Rolling hills with meadows and forests, with no fences or cars in sight offer quiet and peace, being the perfect place to slow down and relax.

Immerse yourself in nature and hear the birds sing.

Get away from the village on foot, along the horse drawn carts, through the forests and meadows. In the evening we set up camp, make a big fire, cook and tell stories together. Surrounded by the horses and carts, far away from city lights and noise, we can look out into the night sky and observe the stars.

Bike tours

Explore the village and the surrounding hills on two wheels.

Cobor is located in the heart of Transylvania, not far from many of the well known fortified saxon churches and bike trails. One day biking trips from the village can include Felmer, Șoarș, Bărcuț, Brădeni, Viscri and Făgăraș. Bring your own bike or rent one from Cobor Farm.

Botanical tours

The purpose of the Cobor farm is to protect and sustain the rich biodiversity and spontaneous flora of the meadows and forests.

You can find a great diversity of flowers, shrubs and grass types not far from the village. Our specialised guide can show and explain to you the different plant species and the role they play in the ecosystem. Whether you are a 10 year-old fascinated by daisies or a 40 year-old professor of botany, the hills around Cobor are a perfect place for you to explore and learn more.

Birdwatching tours

Discover the amazing birdlife found in the Transylvanian Hills

The hills around Cobor are rich in many bird species, and a colony of bee-eaters is nesting in a vertical clay bank very close to the village. We can arrange for a guide to take you around, and give you useful information about the wonderful world of birds. Best time for this is either early morning or late in the afternoon.
